Headway on the Bloomington Creativity Center

We would like to share the exciting news about Friends of the BCPA. The City of Bloomington has agreed to transfer responsibility of BCPA fundraising to the nonprofit Friends of the BCPA. All future fundraising efforts will be spearheaded through Friends.

Hence, your Friends of the BCPA Membership (previously called Arts Partners) is now being managed by Friends. The memberships are still being utilized to:

  • Sustain our Arts Education programming like the Student Spotlight shows which helps fund educational art field trips for local students and teachers
  • Provide opportunities for low income families to attend show through the Angel Tickets program
  •  Foster local artists by facilitating workshops in the community

If you would like to become a Friend of the BCPA, join here.

With all of these new developments, we have been able to make progress in our goal to renovate the Creativity Center. The renovations will be conducted in phases as we raise the funds. We have begun our first stage of the renovations with $1 million already raised from the previous 2004-2008 Capital Campaign to renovate the BCPA. In Spring, the building should have a new HVAC system and updated roof! The next stage will tackle rewiring the electrical and installing the gas lines.
